Condition: Item is used in good condition commensurate with age, see photos. Some rust colored spots on inside of bowl. A little dusty.
Subject: Incense burner (koro) of a dragon wrapped around the bowl portion, with a dragon-like minogame on the lid, with openwork lid on the minogame's shell. Similar example in Japanese book "Hirado ware, Focusing on Netsuke" by Tosho Noda, item #232, described as the following:

鈕蓋にはの背中の亀田232 染付漁夫苫屋舟形香炉高九五径二〇〇十九世紀後半は薄く青磁三亀はそれとまやぶね亘って家業る。苫屋舟とは菅や芽などを編んで和船の屋根を葺いた舟のことで、舟に設けた透彫昆沙門亀甲文様の弓形屋根の形が香煙 蓋となり、船首には染付の衣を纏った漁夫がのんびりと坐り、 閑江を彷彿させるひねり細工の香炉である。船の内面と底面は平坦無釉。235染付花高一二〇六ツ目編の
Tomayabune is a Japanese boat whose roof is made of woven tubes and buds. The bow-shaped roof of the boat with an open-carved tortoise shell design serves as a lid for incense smoke, and at the bow of the boat a fisherman wearing dyed robes sits leisurely, and it is a twisted incense burner reminiscent of the Kanji River. .
