Subject: A black kakiwake glaze (a feature borrowed from Miura Ken'ya's ceramics) covers the bottom half of this vase, with painted designs of two oxen, two ox herders, and additional designs of birds and grass. Recalls Makuzu Kozan's original Kyoto Satsuma style, with design similarities to works by famous Kyoto ceramic artist Ogata Kenzan (note the signature in his style) and similarities to works by famous Kyoto ceramic artist Nonomura Ninsei.
