Origin/Maker: Mashiko ware, attributed to Naoyuki Matsubara 松原直之 (1938-). Unsigned but with Naoyuki Matsubara's distinctive glaze style ("Akae iron red overglaze over Namijiro-yu glaze bases").

Subject: With "broken cane" (sometimes called "broken grass") designs in the style of Mashiko great, Hamada Shoji. I have two similarly decorated vases acquired at the same time, both in different forms, but interestingly almost exactly the same weight.
