Origin/Maker: Yamaguchi Koetsu (1844-1904), Tokyo. Satsuma ware, Japan. Yamaguchi Koetsu maker's mark on side of 山口 (Yamaguchi). Yamaguchi Koetsu was an artist/decorator residing in Tokyo.

Collected: PA auction 17 DEC 2023. Bought together with several Makuzu Kozan Yokohama Satsuma pieces and another Tokyo Satsuma piece attributed to Yamaguchi Koetsu.
Condition: Item is used in good condition commensurate with age, see photos. Small original to manufacture crack to upper rim. Some light surface wear, most notably to the gold upper rim
Subject: Tokyo Satsuma tea bowl with high quality raised enamel and painted decorations of two baskets, one with chrysanthemum (kiku) flowers, the other with loquat fruit (biwa), a vase with flowers (iris?), a metal Oni Arare Nambu style cast iron tea kettle or sake ewer, and a Chinese style teapot and cup.
