Age: Early 1900s. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) or Taisho Period (1912 - 1926)
Origin/Maker: Sumida ware (sometimes called Sumidagawa ware). Unmarked. Sumida ware was from Asakusa in Tokyo (near the Sumida river), and they later moved to Yokohama in 1924.
Size: 8 1/4" tall (20.955 cm)
Weight: 1 lb 0.5 oz (468 g)
Provenance: Ventura CA antique store
Collected: 2021
Condition: Item is used in good condition commensurate with age, see photos. Vertical hairline crack to top edge of vase.
Subject: Decorated with raised designs in relief of two Chinese style boys (Karako) climbing the side of the vase. Unusual for Sumida ware in that it's fully glazed with blue, orange, and green flambe glazes.
