Subject: Ceramic sake cup, or sakazuki, netsuke. It is cast in the image of a benevolent protective oni (demon) that chases away
the evil spirits. On the glazed inner area is the gold hand panted image of Otafuku (known as the perfect wife or goddess of mirth). There is a hole going
through the chin of the oni is a hole (see pictures) where a string can be attached and this sakazuki can be worn in netsuke form like a necklace. If one
drinks to excess the cup cannot be dropped and broken this way
