Age: 1800s or earlier
Origin/Maker: Korean style Kōda ware (高田焼) also called Yatsushiro ware (八代焼), from Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Has papers inside, with a small sketch of the jar (showing the missing lid) discussing it's possible origin, reading the following:
"I have always been puzzled over this ware. The Japanese call it Korea, Yatsushiro and Satsuma. None of them seem to be old. It is certainly not Korea." And taped to this is a "Karatsu" label.
Size: 2 1/4" tall (5.72 cm)
Weight: 4.5 oz (127 g)

Collected: La Jolla (San Diego) CA antique store MAY 2023
Condition: Item is used in good condition commensurate with age, see photos. Kintsugi (lacquer and gold repaired) repaired crack. Missing lid.
